Terms of Service
By creating an account or using PrepperApp, you agree to these terms. Read them through — we've kept it short, with no fine print tricks.
This is a translation. The Dutch text is legally binding; if the two differ, the Dutch text applies.
1. Who we are
PrepperApp (the PrepperApp and PrepAlert apps and the website prepperapp.net) is offered by Michael Stuut, an independent developer in Hoorn, the Netherlands.
- Email: support@prepperapp.net
These terms apply to your PrepperApp account, the PrepperApp apps and the website. If you use your account in PrepAlert, they also apply to that account; the PrepAlert app itself is also covered by the terms in that app. How we handle your data is described in the privacy policy.
2. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password secret and for all activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account yourself; younger users can be added to a parent's or guardian's household.
3. What you can expect from us
We do our best to keep the service available and reliable, but can't guarantee 100% uptime — especially not during an actual emergency where internet or power is down. PrepperApp is meant as a preparedness aid, not a replacement for official emergency services.
4. Your content
All the data you enter (supply lists, notes, chat messages, routes) remains yours. We use it only to provide the service to you. We don't sell it and we don't use it to train AI models.
One exception is your own choice: if you ask an AI question in the app and there is no AI on your device, the app can, with your permission, send that question via our server to Google Gemini. Google may use that content to improve its services. Read more about this in the privacy policy.
If you delete your account, we delete your account and your data from our server immediately; this cannot be undone. Backups on our server are deleted automatically after 30 days (we only keep the two most recent of each kind until newer ones exist); your data can remain in them for that long. Community contributions that are also useful to others remain, shown as 'Deleted account'. Anything we're legally required to keep, we keep only for that purpose.
5. Community rules
In the forum, the local and outdoor posts and other places you share with others, ordinary rules of decency apply. Not allowed:
- hate, threats, harassment and discrimination;
- other people's personal data or photos without their permission;
- scams, advertising and spam;
- content that is illegal or dangerous, such as instructions for weapons or explosives.
You are responsible for what you post. By posting, you allow us to show that contribution in the service, also after your account has been deleted (see 'Your content'). We may remove contributions that break these rules and block an account temporarily or permanently. See something that isn't allowed? Report it to support@prepperapp.net.
6. PrepperApp Pro and purchases
PrepperApp Pro is a one-time purchase (not a subscription): you pay once and then have access to all Pro features on your account forever, on the website too. You'll see the current price in the app at the time of purchase.
Payment is handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play; their terms apply to the payment. To cancel a purchase or get a refund, contact Apple or Google, under their rules. Your statutory consumer rights always continue to apply. PrepAlert Pro is a separate purchase in the PrepAlert app, with its own terms.
7. Liability
PrepperApp is a tool. Advice, calculations (such as the number of days you can last), warnings from official sources and AI answers may be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Always follow the instructions of the authorities and emergency services, and call the emergency number when in danger.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, or for damage because the service (temporarily) doesn't work or a warning arrives late or not at all. If we are liable anyway, this is limited to the amount you paid for PrepperApp in the twelve months before. This limitation does not apply in case of intent or gross negligence, and does not affect your mandatory consumer rights.
8. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. For any material change, we'll let you know by email or an in-app notice, well before the change takes effect.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by Dutch law. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of that country's mandatory rules. If you have a complaint, email support@prepperapp.net first, and we'll look for a solution together. If that doesn't work, you can go to the competent court in the Netherlands, or in the country where you live if the law gives you that right. The Dutch text of these terms is legally binding; translations are provided for convenience.
