Frequently asked questions
Offline use, countries and languages, Android, your data and your household — the questions we get most.
Is PrepperApp free?
Yes — creating an account and using the core Today, Supplies, Outside, Learn and Family features is free. Some advanced features require PrepperApp Pro, a one-time purchase (not a subscription); the exact amount in your country is shown in the App Store or Google Play.
See PrepperApp Pro →Does PrepperApp work without internet?
The app (iPhone and Android) is offline-first: your supply lists, guides and saved routes stay available without a connection, and sync once you're back online. The website works offline too once you've been logged in: your dashboard opens with your most recently loaded data (view only; changes are possible again once you're online), and the first-aid guides can be read offline as well.
Do the website and app share the same account?
Yes. One account for Today, Supplies, Outside, Learn and Family — log in with the same details in the app and on the website, and you'll see the same household everywhere.
Can I use PrepperApp without downloading the app?
Yes. The full dashboard — Today, Supplies, Outside, Learn and Family — also works right in your browser, on your computer or phone. Handy if you don't have an Android app yet, or simply prefer not to install one. Create an account and you're in the same environment as the app within a minute, with the same household.
How safe is my data?
Private chats between two accounts (in the current chat version), the family chat, routes you share between accounts, the places on Our map and live location are end-to-end encrypted — unreadable to us. If encryption is on for your household (this happens automatically once every member has the new app and there is a recovery code), your supplies, emergency plan, family card, family status and the other data you share with your household are end-to-end encrypted too. Otherwise they are stored readable to our server, on servers within the EU. The trips you save are end-to-end encrypted if your account has its own key (this happens automatically in the new app), also when you share them with another account; with a share link the key is in the link itself, after the # sign, and that part never reaches our server. Without your own key, our server can read them. Medical details are not included with the family card. Your medical profile, medication, vault, finances, diary and tick bites are kept only on your phone. More detail is in the privacy policy.
Read the Privacy Policy →Does PrepperApp replace emergency services?
No. PrepperApp helps you prepare — with supply tracking, routes, guides and household coordination — but it's not a replacement for emergency services. In an acute emergency, always call your local emergency number.
Which countries and languages does PrepperApp support?
The app is available in English, Dutch, German and Spanish; the website also in French, Portuguese and Italian. The app supports seven regions — the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia — with the right emergency number, learning paths and supply advice from your own government (such as Denk Vooruit, BBK or Ready.gov). On your first visit the website picks your browser's language automatically; you can always change it at the top right.
Is there an Android app?
Yes, PrepperApp is available on Google Play. You use the same account as on iPhone and the website.
Start in your browser now →How do I invite family members?
Whoever creates a household is automatically its owner. Under Family you create a short invite code; your family members enter it after creating their own account. From then on you share supplies, the emergency plan and family card, and talk through the end-to-end encrypted family chat. As owner, you decide who becomes an admin.
What is Our map, and who can see the places?
Our map is in the app under Family. You put your meeting point, safe places and other places on it, for your family, your neighbours or just yourself. Each place is encrypted on your phone for the people in that group: our server stores it but cannot read the name or the location. With ‘Take me there’ the app shows you the way, and with your country's map on your phone that works without internet too. You can also print Our map as a PDF for your emergency bag. Our map is not (yet) on the website.
Does PrepperApp work on Apple Watch?
Yes, the iPhone app comes with an Apple Watch app with a days counter, compass, an SOS distress signal and route recording — even when your phone isn't nearby. A complication shows your readiness on your watch face. On iPhone there are home-screen widgets too.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes, at any time via the app settings. If you delete your account, we delete your account and your data from our server immediately; this cannot be undone. Backups on our server are deleted automatically after 30 days (we only keep the two most recent of each kind until newer ones exist); your data can remain in them for that long. Community contributions that are also useful to others remain, shown as 'Deleted account'.
