Recognition
- Wild Garlic (EDIBLE): broad leaves, STRONG garlic scent
- Lily of the Valley (TOXIC): similar leaves, floral scent, NO garlic smell
- Wild Garlic: white star-shaped flowers, flat leaf
- Lily of the Valley: white bell flowers, parallel veins
Dangerous lookalikes
- GOLDEN RULE: Always smell — if it does not smell of garlic, it is NOT wild garlic
- Lily of the Valley contains cardiac glycosides — can be deadly
- Autumn crocus also look-alike in early spring
